The habit of artistic creation was born with man. Even if it seems a joke, one can even imagine that man was born out of an artistic expression by a “creative” god, according to many accounts on the birth of man by cultures in the four corners of the earth. One thing is certain: thanks to their artistic expression men were able to concretize and represent desires and passions, the ordinary and the exceptional, beliefs and knowledge. But, beyond inspiring motives, there has always been the will with artists to render an aesthetic feeling with mankind that is attracted to beauty and perfection in a natural way. Also for Maria Manfredonia the approach to art is justified by her desire for harmony, beauty, perfection. She received an excellent and almost complete art education on visual arts when visiting Italian schools. But neither the imaging techniques, nor the hours spent with study of the art history of the West and the Far East are the reasons for which she was always attracted by arts. For her art appeased her need for harmony, beauty. Thanks to art she has the feeling of mental elevation and being a member of universe. It is not even the fact that she was able to visit many art galleries, or that she could meet and even work with gallery owners in Rome, Tokyo or Amsterdam, which pushed her into opening “Galerie Rubens de Maria Manfredonia” in Brussels. Her goal was first of all to concretize her wish of always having “day-to-day art” in her life. It is not a coincidence that her first exhibition was called “Voglia d’Arte”, desire for art, in Italian, which means a title in her native language, a language in which she expresses her most deep and most personal emotions and feelings. After three years in which the gallery is open, it can be concluded that there are artists who understood this ideal spirit, which is concrete at the same time too. It allows painters, sculptors, photographers or illustrators to present their works to the public in an atmosphere which is appropriate to their feelings and their motivations. Moreover everything is made for presenting contemporary works of art in the best possible way. Since its opening the gallery exhibited artists of several nationalities living in Belgium or abroad. In the more than 30 exhibitions organized in the gallery, mainly paintings, but also sculptures, ceramics, tapestries, photographs and illustrations were exhibited. Galerie Rubens de Maria Manfredonia is undoubtedly one of the most active galleries in Brussels that propose contemporary art varying from figurative to abstract art. The gallery has the ambition of also performing more specifically didactic activities by organizing art workshops, set up and led by the artists of the gallery. The gallery also has a powerful web server that is constantly updated. The web server is also equipped with a shopping cart, and the works of art exhibited in the gallery can also be purchased through the e-shop, a truly online art gallery. Gallery Rubens de Maria Manfredonia believes that thanks to e-commerce, people can make a better choice and make a better purchase, even if they live far away from the gallery and Brussels. Indeed the gallery wants to give people the possibility of acquiring an object of art more easily, so that they may experience more joy from it. Because the purchased object can only become a true presence in their lives and that they will pass on as their memory to next generations. |
